Hodgkinson achieved her fastest time of 1:54.61 last year in the British capital.

Keely Hodgkinson finished her two-lap season with a win at the women-only Athlos meet in NYC on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who earned bronze at the global championships last month, excelled in an outstanding victory in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a season affected by a muscle issue.

Fellow Briton and global silver winner Georgia Bell finished second once more in 1:58.33, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua Maloney (one minute 58.57) claimed third.

"I haven't competed much this season so it was probably easier for me to compete and be motivated to perform," stated the 23-year-old.

"The environment at the event is crazy so it was extremely enjoyable."

The female-exclusive meet filled the stadium in its second year, introducing a festive vibe to traditional track, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing traditional winners' medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is married to Athlos founder Alexis O., was on hand to present the winners with their tiaras.

Last year's winners received $60,000 (£44,603) - one of the largest prize purses in athletics.

The event also attracted some of the sport's biggest names, as Kenya's triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith K. triumphed in the mile race, finishing in four hours 17.78 minutes.

American Brittany B., the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the 100m and 200m double.
